Vent.

I need to vent. I have kept my opinions to myself long enough. The economy is still in rough shape, that is for sure. People are still losing jobs, still struggling to put food on their table, or just trying to make ends meet in general. I feel for those people. I feel badly for those people. To a degree Marty and I still are those people.

The people I don't feel sorry for however, are the people who have willingly let their houses go into foreclosure simply because it just seemed easier than paying the mortgage. Sadly, Marty and I know several families that have done that.

One family we know let their house go into foreclosure because they had "so much going on in their lives something had to give". The house was just "too much work" so they quit paying their mortgage for 14 months. What's worse is these same people are now bragging about the new pool they just purchased for their rental house, the new car they just bought, the new garden they just put in in their rental yard and all the great things they get to do on the weekends now. They also post daily on Facebook about how amazing their lives are, how truly blessed they are and how wonderful life is. EXCUSE ME?????

What about morals? What about values? What about setting a good example for your kids? But then obviously the people who knowingly don't pay their mortgage "just because" don't have the same value system that the rest of us do. HOW do you justify choosing to not pay your mortgage for over a year then do all this and gloat about it?

So does that mean if Marty and I decide that, wow, life is getting a little sticky these days, we're really tired of cleaning our townhouse (by the way, the people mentioned above were neighbors) and we're tired of wasting our money on a mortgage payment, we should just stop paying our mortgage and live happily ever after? Yeah, right. I could never live with myself. I honestly don't know how they do. But then, I guess that's the difference between these families and us. We have morals.

  1. A disciplined life is never easy - but it is still the best way to live.

You guys are doing an awesome job - in all areas: body, mind (spiritually) - and financial matters.
